Dr. Terrance Miller

Dr. Terence A. Miller is a third-generation optometrist who joined the practice in 1981. A native of Exeter, he attended Exeter schools and the College of the Sequoias before earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Sonoma State University. In 1981, he received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry, where he was recognized for his research in contact lenses and ophthalmic dispensing skills.

Dr. Miller has enjoyed a full career of community service, including 27 years as the Exeter Lions Club’s King of the Brewfest. He also served as the charter president of the Exeter Jaycees and as a board member of the Exeter Chamber of Commerce. He is currently a member and past president of the Tulare-Kings Counties Optometric Society. Outside of his professional work, Dr. Miller enjoys spending time with his family, fly fishing, skiing, and cycling.

Dr. Judith Ransberger

Dr. Judith Lane Ransberger is a native Californian who joined the practice as a full partner in 2022. She began her education in the schools of the Bay Area and Redding, CA, before attending the University of California, Davis, where she majored in biochemistry. She went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry, interning in the Pediatric Binocular Vision Clinic and completing a specialty contact lens rotation at Pacific Presbyterian Medical Center in San Francisco.

Since graduating in 1987, Dr. Ransberger has practiced in the Central Valley, with a particular passion for working with contact lens and pediatric patients, including infants. She is an active member of the Tulare-Kings Counties Optometric Society and currently serves on the board as secretary. Outside of her practice, Dr. Ransberger enjoys cooking, spending time with her family, and practicing yoga—occasionally teaching classes at Valley Yoga Studio.

A Legacy of Care

Dr. Robert K. Narahara

Dr. Robert K. Narahara retired in 2024 after serving the Exeter community for an exceptional 52 years. He joined the practice in 1972 after graduating from the Southern California College of Optometry. Dr. Narahara completed an advanced clinical program in the theoretical aspects and clinical techniques of contact lenses and received an award for outstanding achievement in contact lens research. He is also a charter member of the Contact Lens Section of the American Optometric Society.

Throughout his career, Dr. Narahara was deeply involved in community service, serving as president of both the Kiwanis Club of Exeter and the Tulare-Kings Counties Optometric Society, as well as on the boards of the YMCA, CSET, and the Exeter Chamber of Commerce. In retirement, he enjoys golf, skiing, fishing, and time with his family.

Dr. James E. Miller

Our founder, the late Dr. James E. Miller, was born in Sandusky, Ohio. After serving four years in the Army Air Corps during World War II, he flew B-26 and B-17 bombers and completed more than 50 missions in the European theater. He married Loretta McManus and eventually settled in Exeter. Dr. Miller earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and began practicing in Exeter in 1947.

He was a member and past president of the Exeter Kiwanis Club and was very active in the Boy Scouts of America. Dr. Miller passed away in 1984 at the age of 65, leaving behind a legacy of service, dedication, and care for the Exeter community.
